IAT Construction - Students

The Australian construction industry needs 229,000 skilled workers to deliver critical public infrastructure projects. At the Institute of Applied Technology – Construction (IATC), our work-integrated learning program connects classroom knowledge with real-world experience, developing the next generation of construction leaders.

By completing three or more IATC microcredentials, you’ll be eligible to apply for the work-integrated learning program.

1. Study IATC microcredentials
   Study three or more microcredentials in areas such as Contract Administration, Project Management, Work Health and Safety (WHS), Sustainability, or Digital Skills.
   
2. Apply for a paid industry placement
   Submit your Expression of Interest to be considered for a placement with one of our industry hosts.
   
3. Gain practical experience
   Complete a minimum of 35 - 70 hours paid industry placement in a workplace, applying your skills in real-world projects to build confidence and industry expertise.
4. Complete the WIL microcredential
   Demonstrate your practical skills and commitment to growth in a workplace setting by completing the Work Integrated Learning Microcredential.
   
5. Attend Career Check-In Sessions
   Enhance your professional readiness with tailored guidance, including:
   
   • Resume Uplift – Receive personalised recommendations to make your resume stand out.
   • LinkedIn Profile Review – Strengthen your professional online presence.
   • Skills Inventory – Identify technical and enterprise skills while uncovering growth opportunities.
   • Career Goals & Aspirations – Clarify your long-term vision with expert guidance.
